ADF revises guide to servicing in line with latest BER rules

WITH the future of Block Exemption Regulations (BER) in the balance, The Automotive Distribution Federation (ADF) has called on the industry not to stop repairing customers’ cars during their warranty period.

ADF chief executive Brian Spratt (pictured right) was speaking at the launch of the organisation’s revised guide to trading and servicing vehicles within BER rules.

“As many in the trade know, the ADF produced a leaflet in 2004 giving important information for motorists, garages, parts suppliers and fleet operators on car servicing, during the warranty period and beyond,” said Brian. “This related to parts supply and parts quality following the introduction of the Block Exemption Regulations in 2003.

“Since then, over half a million copies of the leaflet have been distributed and it has been found to be a very useful tool, giving the independent sector the confidence to service vehicles and supply parts, especially during the warranty period,” he added.

The new leaflet has been updated to reflect the upcoming review of BER and the need for the independent sector to support the Right to Repair Campaign (R2RC).

“We’ve incorporated the R2RC logo and other information into the new, stylish leaflet,” added Brian.

Supplies of the leaflet are available for a small charge from ADF office on 0870 458 2300.
